The Screenless, App-Free Humane ‘AI Pin’ That Wants To Replace iPhones Is Here
By Alexa Heah, 13 Nov 2023
Humane Inc recently introduced the AI Pin—a wearable device and software platform designed to leverage the power of artificial intelligence (AI) like never before. The venture, dubbed as the “iPhone Killer,” is spearheaded by husband and wife team Imran Chaudhri and Bethany Bongiorno, both of whom worked as former executives at Apple.
This innovaton, which aims to reshape society’s interaction with technology, provides users with a conversational and screenless alternative to smartphones.
AI Pin is set to be available for order in the US starting November 26, 2023, with prices beginning at US$699 for the complete system.
With this device, gone are the traditional interfaces.
Instead, users can choose from a range of interaction methods, including natural speech, an intuitive touchpad, gesture controls, and a cutting-edge Laser Ink Display projected onto the palm.
In addition, the gadget has been meticulously crafted to seamlessly integrate into one’s daily routine, helping to enhance an individual’s interactions with the world.
AI Mic, for instance, supercharges the search experience, finding and contextualizing information swiftly. The AI-powered messaging feature can even craft messages in a user’s personal tone.
Plus, the Catch Me Up function helps sort through the noise of your inbox, while introducing new music experiences in collaboration with Tidal or assisting in identifying food using computer vision.
Powering the AI Pin is Cosmos, the operating system that doesn’t require any app downloads. The wearable understands a user’s needs and connects them to relevant experiences instantly.
Shoppers can choose from three color options: Eclipse, Equinox, and Lunar. Its two-piece design, featuring the main computer and a battery booster, connects magnetically and transfers power wirelessly through clothing and apparel.
Despite its compact size, the device comes equipped with an ultra-wide RGB camera, depth sensor, and motion sensors. Its personic speaker provides intimate sound experiences, adjusting the volume as needed, and can also pair with headphones via Bluetooth.
“AI Pin is the embodiment of our vision to integrate AI into the fabric of daily life, enhancing our capabilities without overshadowing our humanity,” said Imran Chaudhri and Bethany Bongiorno, co-founders at Humane.
“We are proud to finally unveil what we and the team at Humane have been working on for the past four years. For us, AI Pin is just the beginning.”
