Instagram has news for those who never forgot to add a touch of Valencia to their photos before hitting ‘post’. The social network is introducing several new filters, a much-awaited update after long leaving in-app photo edits as afterthoughts and good-to-have options.
It’s the platform’s first significant filter refresh in years, offering a blend of subtle and bold options to enhance photos and carousels, and seemingly pandering to a new generation of users who are fascinated by film’s analog days.
According to MacRumors, the update brings more than 20 new presets, ranging from minimal color tweaks to more dramatic changes. Users can also adjust their photos with neat blur and lighting effects. Each option comes with an intensity slider to give your picture just the right nuance.
As seen in Meta’s promotional images, the new filters are much cleaner, offering an authentic retro vibe to photos instead of the over-the-top look synonymous with its older features.

One of the most exciting developments in the announcement is the ability to create custom stickers, currently being trialed. With this feature, users can design stickers from their own photos and videos or from eligible content found on the platform.

Cutout stickers are powered by Meta’s Segment Anything AI model, allowing for even more personalized and creative storytelling.

Offering new ways to create dynamic content, Instagram has also brought in six new fonts for Reels, among other features. Text styles comprise Mono Space, Heavy, Geometric, Casual, Slab Serif, and Bubble, and creators can add outlines to them to enhance legibility.
To rival TikTok, the app is bringing more customization to videos and is experimenting with new editing features, including the ability to scale, crop, and rotate individual clips within a post, along with the ability to undo and redo video actions in the future.
Quite notably, Instagram says it is streamlining the posting interface to make the sharing process more intuitive. Users can now easily find and preview images from their camera roll, with the added convenience of zooming in and keyword search capabilities.
