Google Hands Out ‘Pawtraits Kit’ To Animal Shelters To Help Dogs Find Homes

Google is lending animal shelters a helping paw by supplying them with Pixel 8 Pro ‘Pawtraits Kits’, with the aim of improving the chances of pets finding their forever homes through better photography.

One common problem faced by rescues is the quality of photos. Often, these promotional shots are blurry and poorly lit, which can hinder potential pet adoptions. Google’s #PixelPawtraits initiative seeks to change this by providing high-quality imaging tools to animal shelters.

The Pawtraits Kit includes a Pixel 8 Pro smartphone, a camera stand, backdrops, and even dog toys. These tools are designed to help shelters harness the power of Google’s AI camera features, such as Magic Editor and Photo Unblur, to capture better adoption pictures.

Shelters in the US can request a Pawtraits Kit by filling out a request form, providing essential information such as the home’s name, address, and website. Google reviews each request, although it cannot guarantee that every shelter that applies will receive a kit.

Through this offering, Google hopes good boys and girls can be captured “in their best light” and find the happiness they deserve.
