New Balance has kicked off the release of an unusual pair that’s a little, well, on the nose.
Stepping into a fresh field, the sportswear brand has launched Distilled, a fragrance line bottling the invigorating essence of new sneakers. The venture brings two scents—‘Original’ and ‘Court’—each capturing a unique aspect of the athletic spirit and style.

The Original edition is a tribute to that first exhilarating moment of unboxing a new pair of sneakers, mingling the rich, tactile aromas of leather, rubber, and suede, interspersed with the homey scents of cotton socks and the freshness of freshly-mowed grass. It’s concocted to resonate with the classic, fresh-out-of-the-box sneaker smell that many find alluring.

On the other hand, Court takes you directly to the game, combining the woody notes of Australian sandalwood and patchouli with the crispness of juniper berry wild tyrol essential oil. It’s an active perfume that brings to mind the echoes of bouncing basketballs and the sheen of hardwood floors, meant for those who carry the spirit of the game with them.
Place these bottles in your shoe cabinet or even on your nightstand; the perfumes are crafted to be versatile, suitable for freshening up sneakers or as a personal fragrance. The athletic brand partnered with the Australian scent creators at Perfume Playground to develop these unique fragrances.
The Distilled line debuted exclusively for the first 100 buyers as part of the opening of the New Balance Grey Store in Galeries, Sydney. Whether a larger rollout is afoot remains to be clear.
