DJI is taking workflows several notches up into the skies with DJI Modify, its first intelligent 3D model editing software that’s tailored for drone aerial professionals. The tool promises to streamline surveying, mapping, and emergency response, among other areas, through an efficient and intuitive process.
With a user-friendly interface, the app by the prominent drone maker aims to simplify and expedite 3D edits, and is especially adept at refining models by fixing common issues like water reflections, which can skew accuracy.

DJI Modify pairs well with Terra, the company’s own mapping software, to create an all-encompassing solution for aerial surveying. From data collection to model editing, this combination offers an end-to-end solution, enhancing operational efficiency in various fields.
“Complex model processing work has been a challenge for the aerial survey industry for a long time. As DJI’s first intelligent 3D model editing software, DJI Modify has completed the last piece of the puzzle in DJI’s entire enterprise solution from data collection, data processing, to model editing,” explains Christina Zhang, senior director of corporate strategy at DJI. “We believe this will lead the editing of live 3D models to a more intelligent new realm, empowering surveyors, transportation operators, and first responders to improve their workflow.”

The new platform enables the repairing of water surfaces and textures, as well as can fill holes and flatten objects. Users can thus quickly address imperfections in their 3D models with higher precision and quality. The software’s advanced algorithms are especially effective in complex urban environments, where they can identify and remove floating parts and numerous vehicles per square kilometer.
