When Apple releases a brand-new product, you just know there’ll be some controversial accessories to go with it too. And with the US$3,499 Vision Pro, the company’s first major novel product in a long time, that’s a given.
For the high-end “spatial computing” headset, Apple has introduced the Developer Strap, which will set you back an extra US$299. The accessory—designed to bridge the Vision Pro and a computer—introduces a USB-C port to provide a direct wired connection to a Mac, allowing developers to work on graphics-intensive apps and games more accessibly.

With its built-in USB-C support, the strap is made to accelerate the testing and debugging of apps, offering faster data transfer rates essential for creating augmented-reality experiences.
The add-on also replaces the right audio strap of the gear, but it is integrated with a speaker to preserve the immersive audio experience.
Notably, the Developer Strap isn’t available at the Cupertino behemoth’s retail fronts and can only be purchased exclusively by registered developers in the US through the Apple Developer website.
