Pizza Hut has a tasty solution for relationships that have gone stale. This Valentine’s Day, it’s rolling out ‘Goodbye Pies’, turning the expected romantic dinners on their head with a side of bittersweetness.
Contrary to popular belief, Valentine’s Day isn’t just a time for blossoming love; it’s also supposedly peak season for breakups. Research from YouGov highlights that 45% of people believe the days leading up to Valentine’s are prime for parting ways, with “Red Tuesday”—the Tuesday before Valentine’s Day—marked as the most popular day for splitting up.
Biting into this moment, Pizza Hut introduced its Goodbye Pies on February 6, “Red Tuesday,” featuring the new Hot Honey pizzas to make breaking up a slice less painful.

The Hot Honey Pizza boasts a crispy crust topped with marinara sauce, melted cheese, and classic pepperoni, all brought to life with a drizzle of hot honey infused with chili peppers. To soften the blow of separation, this sweet and spicy creation will be delivered in a custom box during the season of love and heartbreak, with space for a personal farewell note.
“With the launch of Goodbye Pies, we are bringing that perfect blend of sweet and heat experience to real life, delivering spicy news in the sweetest way for Valentine’s Day,” expresses Lindsay Morgan, chief marketing officer at Pizza Hut.

For those looking to end things without the face-to-face discomfort, the Goodbye Pies website lets you send a free Goodbye Pie to select cities known for heartbreak—NYC, Chicago, and Miami. And for those outside these areas, Pizza Hut provides an alternative: a pre-crafted breakup text accompanied by a gift card for a consolatory Hot Honey pizza.
