Hiya, Barbie! If you were envious of those whose outfits always matched their dolls, get ready to flip out because the iconic toy phone is expanding from Barbieland to the real world. HMD, the brains behind Nokia phones, has struck a sparkling partnership with Mattel, announcing a blast from the past that speaks to simpler, pinker times.
Proving that life in plastic is more fantastic, the Barbie HMD Pink Flip Phone is taking things back to basics and deviating from the smartphone playbook. It’s a feature phone, which means it’s sticking to the essentials: calling, texting, and maybe a simple round of Snake if you’re lucky (the word is out on whether the beloved game will be preinstalled on this device). It’s well-suited for those who desire less screen time or are looking for a stylish yet clutter-free second phone.
“Promising style, nostalgia, and a much-needed digital detox, this retro feature phone will flip the script on smartphone culture and will be this summer’s hottest accessory,” HMD teases.

While the brand has kept the lid tight on further details, promotional visuals of a toy counterpart paint a pretty picture of what to expect: a phone that’s unapologetically pink and simple.
There’s also a bit of mystery around the operating system, but if HMD’s past is anything to go by, KaiOS could be running this pocket piece of girl power.

This statement gadget will greet the Barbies, Kens, and Allans of our world beginning in July 2024.
