Prostate checks haven’t exactly earned a reputation for being a walk in the park—they’re more of a bummer. At least, that’s the general impression. But what if we told you that the dreaded finger exam might be a relic of the past? That’s the message behind a new campaign from Prost8 UK and TBWA\MCR for Prostate Cancer Awareness Month, aiming to debunk misconceptions and get more men talking about their health.
In the UK, over 12,000 men die annually from prostate cancer, a treatable illness. A great barrier to early detection is the pointed anxiety of these checks being rather intrusive. In hopes of changing that narrative, the charity’s advertising campaign in London utilizes some clever, cheek-y visual trickery.

Billboards and prints feature close-up shots that initially appear to be bare bottoms. But upon closer inspection, the bald truth starts to crack—revealing that those are just the folds of arms.

“A prostate check isn’t what you think. It’s just a blood test taken from your arm,” reads the fine print.

By dispelling ungrounded fears with a touch of humor, Prost8 UK hopes to encourage more men to prioritize their health. No butts about it.
