Disney and Pixar fans, it’s time to keep your mind control center in check. A recently released clip for Inside Out 2, arriving just weeks from now, gives us a peek at Nostalgia—and she’s just as sweet as you would imagine. Squee.
Voiced by June Squibb, the sentimental emotion emerges in a new Disney television spot, portrayed as a silver-haired grandma type complete with spectacles and a steaming cup of team in hand.
It’s implied in this wee glimpse that Nostalgia tends to reminisce—a lot. At one point, Ennui, another new emotion introduced in the sequel, remarks that the event the character was reflecting on had taken place only 30 seconds earlier, to which Nostalgia fondly replies, “Yeah, those were the days.”
Released nearly a decade after the original, Inside Out 2 is effectively growing up with its audience. The surprise addition feels particularly fitting, a not-so-subtle nudge to the Millennial viewers who themselves are now navigating the more challenging aspects of adulthood. Feel old yet?
Super fans might find this character who dwells a little too much in the past familiar, and it’s not just because she’s the walking embodiment of something nostalgic. Disney and Pixar did preview the character with concept art shared back in March.

Inside Out 2 expands the emotional cast to 10 unique characters, including familiar faces Joy, Sadness, Anger, Disgust, and Fear. Joining them are new emotions Anxiety, Ennui, Embarrassment, Envy, and Nostalgia, each bringing more complexity to Riley’s internal world.
However, it seems even Pixar couldn’t encompass the entirety of the human experience (and rightfully so). One emotion, Shame, was scrapped for being “too heavy” and overwhelming the film.
For those who crave even more Inside Out 2 goodness, the official art book, The Art of Inside Out 2, launched on May 7, peeling back the curtains of the sequel’s production process.
Inside Out 2 will swing into theaters, head-first, this June 14.
