You’re gonna need a bigger brick pile! LEGO is diving into a horror classic with a build inspired by the iconic summer thriller, Jaws.
Brought to life by fan builder Johnny Campbell after gaining a worthy number of votes, this 1,497-piece monster captures the Orca, the boat helmed by the tough-as-nails Captain Quint. It’s also nailed the cabin and those memorable yellow barrels, as well as features adjustable rigging.

As a trailer of sorts for this brickbuilt hit, the toymaker has partnered with Universal Products & Experiences to bring its first summer “brick-buster” mini-film, called JAWS…in a Jiffy, where scenes from the movie have been playfully recreated in 90 seconds.

The tribute doesn’t forget Steven Spielberg, who appears in minifigure form as the flick’s director.
Speaking of minifigures, the model doesn’t just stop at the boat. It includes mini-mes of Police Chief Martin Brody, oceanographer Matt Hooper, and the formidable Quint.

The Orca itself sports a removable roof for easy access to the cabin, an adjustable boom, and various accessories like a revolver, compass, fishing rod, harpoon, and spear.
But the real star, of course, is the buildable great white shark, Bruce, who comes complete with a posable jaw and realistic detailing, perfect for reliving the suspense of Jaws brick by brick.

For display, builders have two options: placing the Orca on a brick-built seawater base with Chief Brody’s famous line, “You’re gonna need a bigger boat,” or showcasing Bruce the shark on his own stand.
“Jaws is my favourite movie of all-time, so I really wanted to recreate it in LEGO bricks,” says Campbell, the set’s original designer. “But in order to get all of the finer details, I actually freeze-framed Jaws as I watched it so that I could catch a glimpse of the finer details taking notes as I went along. It is just mind-blowing that my design is now an official LEGO set… It’s every LEGO fan’s dream!”

Aimed at adult builders, the LEGO Ideas Jaws set is priced at US$149.99 and is available for preorders. Mark your calendars, as the set will officially swim to shore on August 6.
