What big wings you have, Batman. DC Comics has unveiled the logo for its upcoming Absolute Batman series, and fans are batting their eyes in retaliation.
The new design, created as part of the broader Absolute Universe initiative imagining variants of superheroes like Superman and Wonder Woman, features a bold, black rectangular shape adorned with bat-like wings, ears, and a tail.

The chunky look, which also appears on the character’s suit, marks a significant departure from the sleek emblems of the Dark Knight’s past.

Set to debut on October 9, 2024, Absolute Batman promises a grittier, more grounded take on the Dark Knight. Written by Scott Snyder and illustrated by Nick Dragotta, this series strips Bruce Wayne of his billions, his mansion, and even his trusty butler. Instead, readers will meet a working-class hero who relies on street smarts, fighting skills, and DIY armor to protect his city.

The insignia has drawn some fat-shaming online, with fans launching a petition urging DC Studios CEO James Gunn to intervene. However, Gunn has clarified that he has “no jurisdiction over the comics.”
Snyder, for his part, seems to be taking the backlash in stride, playfully teasing that the full-fat Batman logo will only get bigger with every complaint.
