Nike has just lifted the curtain on the LeBron TR1 (Trainer 1), marking the first-ever training shoe designed specifically for NBA icon LeBron James. Built to embody James’ dedication to his craft, the TR1 has the next generation of high-achieving athletes in mind.
“The TR1 is for the athlete who’s in constant pursuit of greatness and puts in the work, day in and day out,” shares James. “Training is a huge part of my journey, and this shoe is designed for athletes to use during any workout, any time, any place.”
The silhouette is created for athletes across the board, not just for those trained in basketball.

The shoe’s design emphasizes forefoot flexibility and stability while keeping it lightweight. A thoughtful touch is the removal of the strobel layer, a key element in typical shoe construction, allowing the athlete to be closer to the foam cushioning for a more responsive feel.
With an inverted waffle outsole, the TR1 offers superior traction where it’s needed most, drawing on insights from Nike’s Sports Research Lab to ensure the shoe performs well on various surfaces.

Comfort was also front and center in the TR1’s design. Its wide last and bootie construction allow for natural foot swelling during intense workouts, while the bold midsole wrap adds to the shoe’s stability and versatility.
Aesthetically, LeBron’s style sense is imbued into the footwear, ensuring it’s wearable all day and on and off the court.
