Meta CEO Mark Zuckerberg is shedding his famously low-key wardrobe for something a bit more, well, imperial. At the recent Meta Connect event, Zuckerberg turned heads by wearing a custom t-shirt with the Latin phrase “aut Zuck aut nihil,” which translates to “all Zuck or nothing.” The bold slogan riffs off the famous Roman saying “aut Caesar aut nihil,” and signals Zuckerberg’s unwavering ambition for himself and his company.
Explaining the statement, Zuckerberg told Pubity that “all Zuck or nothing” was a reminder for him to “be true to myself.”
The Meta founder has frequently referenced the Roman Empire in the past, even naming his daughters after figures from the ancient world. However, this latest sartorial choice marks a shift in how he’s presenting himself. The t-shirt, designed in collaboration with fashion designer Mike Amiri, is part of a collection that features classical quotes, such as “pathei mathos” (learning through suffering) and “Carthago delenda est” (Carthage must be destroyed).
Zuckerberg also hinted that his Caesar-inspired wardrobe might not be limited to his own closet for long. In the same interview, he mentioned the possibility of selling the shirts through Instagram, Meta’s own platform.
“I’ve been playing around with the idea of whether I should sell these on my Instagram page as limited drops,” he said, noting that it would give him firsthand experience with how people use the platform for business.
