The Australian Firefighters Calendar is back for 2025, bringing more than just heat and abs of steel to the new year.
Over 30 firefighters from aviation, military, and urban fire services have come together for a month-long photoshoot to create five editions of the beloved calendar: Dog, Cat, Horse, Mixed Animal, and Hero. This annual favorite combines muscle with heart, featuring cuddly animals alongside firefighters known for their courage on the job.

This year’s edition includes a special first—Alijah Johnson, a firefighter and paramedic from Chesapeake, Virginia, who becomes the first African American to grace the calendar's pages. Johnson, featured in both the Hero and Mixed Animal editions, views his participation as an opportunity to inspire change and representation while supporting worthy causes.

“Being the first Black firefighter featured in this iconic calendar is more than just a personal achievement for me, but it’s a chance to show others you can break barriers, represent your community and be a part of a good cause on a global scale,” notes the fireman.
Each month in the five different editions highlights individual firefighters alongside animals ranging from koalas to kittens, showcasing moments of connection that reflect the compassion these professionals bring, both on and off duty. The combination of rescue workers and animals not only makes for eye-catching imagery but also emphasizes the human side of firefighting.

This year’s calendar proceeds will help communities rebuild after Hurricane Helene and Milton, with A$5,000 (US$3,340) being donated to Greater Good Charities. In collaboration with the Australian Firefighters Calendar, the organization aims to provide food, shelter, and medical assistance to those affected by the hurricanes, helping families get back on their feet. The partnership also extends to supporting the Byron Bay Wildlife Hospital, which focuses on rehabilitating and releasing injured animals into their native habitats.
