Are you the bold new serif in town, or do you tend to stay within the lines? Adobe Acrobat has identified personality traits for 13 of the most recognized typefaces, inviting font lovers to find the one best suited for them.

Everyone has an idea of the kind of voices certain typefaces may project, but the tech giant went a step further by asking artificial intelligence to develop defined profiles for them. To start, the company used AI to craft 13 different email personas, each inspired by a different font like Helvetica, Times New Roman, or Comic Sans, before surveying over 1,000 Americans to find out how much they resonated with people.

As it turns out, Courier New was the most relatable font personality for more than a quarter of respondents. Its straightforward style seemed to click with many people.

Meanwhile, Comic Sans—perhaps the internet’s most divisive font—came across as enthusiastic and motivational, while Helvetica had a more concise, informative vibe.

Then there’s Wingdings: if it had a personality, people thought it would probably work in architecture and be outgoing and social, according to the findings.

Across the different generations surveyed, Courier New remained popular, landing at the top for everyone except baby boomers, who found Impact to be the most relatable. As for Times New Roman, it didn’t fare quite as well; it came in eighth when people were asked to choose a personality style they would actually use in an email. This outcome seems to challenge Times New Roman’s long-standing status as the classic go-to font for formal communication.

“Just as zodiac signs unveil the essence of one’s character, these font personality cards hold the key to discovering your typographic kindred spirit, from the creative allure of Lobster to the practical charm of Arial. Let these font horoscopes illuminate your path and empower you to embrace the font persona that speaks to your digital identity,” says the Adobe Acrobat team. Whether it’s your affinity for Helvetica's clean lines or the chaotic energy of Comic Sans, it’s an amusing way to look at how the fonts we use might reveal a little about who we are.

Without further ado, head down to discover your typographic twin. The graphic for Helvetica is shown right above.
