IKEA’s beloved STOCKHOLM collection is turning 40, and it’s celebrating with a furniture party that’s more mix than match. Launching on April 10, 2025, STOCKHOLM 2025 marks the largest drop in the four-decade history of the line, regarded as showcasing the “best of IKEA.”
With 96 new pieces, the Swedish retailer is building solid craftsmanship into modular flexibility, all while ditching the idea that furniture has to come in neatly coordinated sets.
This latest edition draws from the city it’s named after—Stockholm’s natural landscapes, its urban design language, and its shifting seasonal palette. The result is a collection rooted in warm tones, earthy textures, and fluid silhouettes.

Solid wood, hand-blown glass, handwoven wool, and sculpted rattan are the materials of choice, used across everything from modular sofas to curved dining chairs to IKEA’s first-ever chandeliers.

Three Swedish designers—Ola Wihlborg, Nike Karlsson, and Paulin Machado—each lent their signatures to the project.

Wihlborg’s contribution includes a modular sofa engineered to hold its shape without constant cushion fluffing. Karlsson offers a foam-free pinewood alternative, padded with natural latex and coconut fiber. Machado adds a botanical lens, weaving mushroom and birch motifs into rugs and lampshades. Together, they’ve shaped a lineup that’s as function-first as it is visually rich.

The flatpack convenience remains intact, with many items using wedge dowel fittings that eliminate the need for tools during assembly. Durable, eco-conscious materials take precedence, making the pieces both transportable and long-lasting. Whether you're dressing up a space with a wool rug or slotting in a sculptural rattan chair, STOCKHOLM 2025 is designed to flex with your lifestyle rather than dictate it.

With this milestone release, IKEA continues its mission of making high-quality design accessible at scale. STOCKHOLM 2025 doesn’t just look back at where the brand has been; it maps out where Scandinavian design is headed next.
