As runways prepare for heavier fabrics and layered silhouettes, PANTONE is layering meaning into color. For the Fall/Winter 2026–2027 season, the color authority pictures expressive hits that nudge traditional autumnal palettes in a more adventurous direction.

The PANTONE Color Institute has released its Fashion Color Trend Report for New York Fashion Week’s Autumn/Winter 2026/2027 season, outlining 10 key hues set to shape upcoming collections, along with five core shades designed to work year-round.

Upcoming cold-weather lines are set to reflect a push and pull between authenticity and experimentation. Grounded earth tones and practical neutrals share space with saturated brights that feel expressive without tipping into excess.

“Balancing minimalism with urban energy, NYFW Autumn/Winter 2026/2027 brings together the safe and the enticing to shape a new chromatic balance,” details Leatrice Eiseman, executive director of the PANTONE Color Institute. “Bridging heritage with innovation, consumers are seeking wearable colors with true versatility, while simultaneously reaching for color that injects energy, surprise and spontaneity, creating a color duality infused with a refreshing new perspective.”

The top 10 colors reflect that tension. Muted Clay, a terracotta shade, leans rustic and warm. Neptune Green introduces a watery, slightly retro note, while Green Envy taps into a natural yet polished sensibility. Arabian Spice delivers a deep brown with an earthy undertone, and Foxglove softens the mix with a mauve-tinged pink. Festival Fuchsia adds a punchier accent, contrasted by the darker, red-brown depth of Red Mahogany. Acacia, a yellow with a green cast, brings brightness, while All Aboard channels a maritime blue. And Burnt Olive rounds out the group with a layered green that feels understated but intentional.

Alongside these statement shades are five “seasonless” colors meant to anchor wardrobes beyond a single season. Egret offers a warm, creamy white. Candied Ginger provides a smooth neutral that reads calm and adaptable. Toffee continues the brown family with a timeless edge, while Underworld, a mid-tone gray, acts as a steady base. Poseidon, a deep ocean blue, closes the set with a composed, confident tone.

Rather than shouting in unison, the coming season’s colors are meant to create a conversation between comfort and curiosity, inviting designers and wearers to choose how boldly they want to speak.
