First Possible Look At Adidas Slip-On Design After YEEZY Departure

Intolerable views aside, there’s no denying the role that Ye—formerly known as Kanye West—held in Adidas’ success during the last few years. The German sportswear giant itself has considered its work with West’s YEEZY to be among its “most successful collaborations.” In the beginning, their relationship was truly as easy as putting on slip-ons.
Alas, all this came to cease after too many instances of questionable behavior, culminating in anti-Semitic threats, exhibited by the rapper. Ye was let go by Balenciaga. Now he’s lost Adidas.
It’s unclear how Adidas will proceed with its footwear designs post-Ye, though its plans seem to be hinted in its breakup announcement. “Adidas is the sole owner of all design rights to existing [YEEZY] products as well as previous and new colorways under the partnership,” the company wrote.
So you can expect to see new and existing shoes that look like YEEZYs, sans the YEEZY branding, moving forward.
Fans might now have their first look at such slip-ons. Ian Thomas, co-founder of streetwear shop Private Selection and frequent sharer of yet-to-be-released sneakers, has revealed new, hands-on images of “Adidas Clogs.”

The closed-toe silhouette, seemingly sculpted from a single piece of EVA foam, sees Adidas’ three stripes embedded across the upper and touching the midsole. The monochromatic look is indeed reminiscent of YEEZY slip-ons, like the YEEZY Slides and Foam Runners.
It appears that the clogs will be available in colorways of off-white, green, and black.
Details are scant for now, and there’s no official word by Adidas about this footwear. However, the photos do give a preview of the brand’s pivot (or follow through?) in its evolving design vision.
Bloomberg cites analysts that Adidas will stop selling YEEZY-branded products, but will continue to sell similar designs under its own name come 2023. Perhaps little will change, after all, and it’ll only be a matter of how much fans value the YEEZY association.
