Microsoft Releases Ugly Holiday Sweater Featuring A Certain Windows Assistant

Have you gotten your ugly holiday sweater for the upcoming festivities? If you’re still hemming and hawing about which to go with, why not pay homage to a certain Microsoft Windows assistant that made up a large part of your formative years?

Yup, we’re talking about Office favorite Clippy, who appears on this year’s edition of the sweater wishing its wearer, and everyone else, happy holidays. Isn’t that sweet?

Since it’s been over two decades since the lovable (or annoying, you choose) virtual assistant was taken away, not everyone may be familiar with its antics. 

First introduced in 1996, the animated paperclip was known for how it offered to help with everything, even when it wasn’t needed. Nostalgia is a trip, however, as Clippy, now in the form of Clippit, made a comeback in a retro sticker pack in Microsoft Teams last year. 

US$100,000 from the purchases of the Windows Ugly Sweater: Clippy Edition will go towards Microsoft’s College Success Foundation to aid underserved, low-income students access education and succeed in school.
