Sony Could Build PlayStation 5 Into Future Honda Cars

Whether you like it or not, in-car gaming is a part of the future. Following the tails of automakers such as Tesla, Honda may even take things further by baking a full PlayStation 5 into its cars.
Earlier this year, the Japanese car company announced that it will start making electric vehicles with Sony. Now, Izumi Kawanishi—president and COO of their joint Sony Honda Mobility company—has shared with the Financial Times that entertainment will be a core consideration when designing upcoming models.
Besides potentially integrating “autonomous driving” down the road, Kawanishi says PS5 support could be one of the cars’ entertainment options that tap into Sony’s rich portfolio of “content, services, and entertainment technologies.” He says this will be Sony Honda Mobility’s “strength against Tesla.”
The executive adds that there will be an allocated area in the car to accommodate entertainment. Imagine racing other cars… but on a touch screen.
Instead of sticking an actual console to electric cars, however, Sony and Honda could install the PS5 as software, Autoblog points out.
The past years have seen a trend of conceptual vehicles that double as mobile lounges and venues for recreation. At this rate, cars might be the answer to the gaming console shortage.
