Apple’s iPhone 15 Launch Event Is Right Around The Corner: Here’s What To Expect

The anticipation is building as Apple prepares for its annual September keynote event, where the tech giant is poised to unveil the highly-anticipated iPhone 15 lineup.

As always, you can catch the live stream on Apple’s website, starting at 10 a.m. PT (1 p.m. ET). And, just before the event is scheduled to take place, a report from Bloomberg has cited potential updates that eager fans can expect.

One of the most significant shifts expected this year is the introduction of USB-C charging for iPhones. This move could simplify the charging process across various devices and brands, potentially marking a substantial departure from the Lightning charger introduced in 2012.

In line with EU legislation, Apple aims to integrate USB-C support into its devices by 2024 in response to declining sales over the past three quarters. This transition may also lead to the emergence of new charging accessories, possibly in a spectrum of colors.

Rumor also has it that the entire iPhone 15 lineup will come with the innovative “Dynamic Island” feature, which has replaced the conventional notch and served as an interactive hub for alerts, notifications, and controls.

The Pro models, namely the iPhone 15 Pro and 15 Pro Max, are expected to flaunt a rear-facing periscope lens for superior optical zoom. They might also sport a titanium casing, potentially making them up to 15% lighter and slimmer.

In addition, the iPhone 15 Pro models will sport a slightly larger appearance compared to last year’s versions, thanks to a significant reduction in screen bezel thickness by approximately one-third.

The regular iPhone models are set to receive substantial camera improvements, transitioning from the previous 12-megapixel main camera sensor to a 48-megapixel sensor.

Under the hood, the iPhone 15 Pro models could feature Apple’s A17 chip, employing 3-nanometer technology for faster processing and extended battery life.

And if the ‘Wonderlust’ event invites were anything to go by, there could be new shades, including navy and refreshed variations of gray, white, and silver, seen on the iPhone 15.

Beyond iPhones, Apple may provide glimpses into its Vision Pro mixed reality headset, slated for a 2024 launch. Expect hints of exciting features and collaborations.

The Apple Watch Series 9 is expected to join the party, with minor updates compared to the following year’s Apple Watch Series 10.

To complete the picture, Apple will likely announce release dates for the upcoming operating systems for iPhone, iPad, Mac, and Apple Watch.

iOS 17 looks set to promise enhancements like improved autocorrect, real-time message transcriptions via Live Voicemail, and the convenient NameDrop tool for sharing contact information. Additionally, the iPhone’s phone app will see a minor redesign, relocating the hang-up button to the bottom right of the screen.
