Nothing, the iconic makerof the minimalist Nothing Phone and Nothing Ear, is turning away from hardware for a hot minute and rolling out its first clothing line. First previewed at Dover Street Market in October, Nothing Apparel is scheduled for launch on December 7.
To make Nothing Apparel, the brand joined hands with fellow tech and design legend Teenage Engineering to deliver a collection cut from a different kind of cloth both of them are used to. And in yet another nod to technology, the array is inspired by the 1970s IBM factory floor and scientific workwear.
The drop brings a lab coat and a cap, with both items paying homage to the era’s style while evoking Nothing’s modern, transparent design ethos.
The lab coat, resembling scientific garb, is made from translucent textiles and features practical elements like zippered pockets and ventilated hemlines. It’s versatile and designed for a comfortable fit, with adjustable waist drawstrings, multiple zippered pockets, back hem vents for mobility, and YKK Natulon zippers made from recycled materials.
With their classic appeal, the pieces aim to be durable, timeless wardrobe essentials. Emphasizing eco-consciousness, the garments are also packaged in biodegradable materials.
The Transparent Cap and Labcoat will be available in various sizes, priced from US$40 to US$199, on December 7 at 11 am GMT (3 am PST / 6 am EST). This is “drop one,” so keep an eye out for more limited fashion-related releases from Nothing in 2024.
