Nothing has just released everything you need to know about the incoming Phone 2.
When the Nothing Phone 1 first launched, it made a splash in the tech world with its unique design and minimalist aesthetic. The device departed from the traditional look of the smartphones of today with a visually striking body that showcased its inner components, and that could light up. Unfortunately, it never made it to the US for sale, but that could change with its new and improved sibling.
Phone 2 will have a 6.7-inch LTPO OLED display and FHD+ resolution with a 120Hz refresh rate. Its primary camera is a 50MP Sony IMX890 sensor with image stabilization, HDR, and Motion Capture. Its punch-hole front-facing camera is a 32MP Sony IMX615 sensor that can support 1080p video recordings at 60fps.
With the Nothing OS 2.0, you’ll have the ability to customize your phone even more. This includes having multiple home screens, choosing from various color themes, adjusting grid sizes, and labeling your apps. You can also set up different folders, widgets, and shortcuts.
A Snapdragon 8+ Gen 1 chip and a 4,700 mAh battery are powering all of this up. When plugged into a wired charger, it has a speed of 45W, while wireless charging remains at 15W.
Now, onto its hardware. The Phone 2 largely looks the same as its predecessor bar for its rounded back, making it more ergonomic when you’re holding it. Its Glyph interface (the part of the phone that lights up) now comes with 11 LED strips and 33 different lighting zones. You can also customize different lighting sequences for various contacts or notifications. Nothing has also recently partnered with the EDM group Swedish House Mafia to develop a new platform where you can create your own ringtones that correspond with the Glyph lights.
The Nothing Phone 2 will officially be available in the US and Canada on July 17 for US$599 and CAD$929 for 8GB of RAM and 128 GB of storage. If you need something a little more, you can get 12GB of RAM and 256 GB of storage for US$699 (CAD$999), and 12 GB of RAM and 512 GB of storage will set you back US$799 (CAD$1,099). The phone can be bought online or via a physical Nothing Drops store in New York and London.
