Elon Musk Shares Videos Of Raptor Engine Blasting Off With Supernova Of Colors
By Izza Sofia, 05 Feb 2019
SpaceX founder Elon Musk shared photos and videos of the company test firing the new Raptor rocket engine to his fans.
In a series of tweets, fans are given a sneak peek at the Raptor engine that is built for the Starship rocket and Musk said he is “so proud of great work” done by his team.
The image shared shows a kaleidoscope of colors coming out of the engine and Musk explained that the “green tinge is either camera saturation or a tiny bit of copper from the chamber.” The other two videos displayed the full force of the rocket. The Raptor has been in the works for years, but Musk said back in December 2018 that the latest version has been “radically redesigned.”
He also spilled a few details on the test engine’s thrust and how it plans to reach the moon as fast as possible. The Starship will be used for a 2023 mission to fly Japanese billionaire Yusaku Maezawa and a group of artists to the moon.
