McDonald’s Pokes Fun At Artisanal Coffee Hipsters In Latest McCafé Spot
By Izza Sofia, 20 Mar 2019
McDonald’s UK has teamed up with creative agency Leo Burnett London to create a new spot poking fun of outrageous coffee snobs and pretentious advertisements.
The ad, meant to promote McDonald’s McCafé coffee, starts with showing various advertising clichés—from a selection of coffee models enjoying their cups of coffee to slo-mo shots of Arabica beans falling from above. Instead of showing all of those typical scenes, McDonald’s chose to show how a customer can simply pop by a McDonald’s store and get a cup of coffee made with freshly grounded Arabica coffee beans and organic milk.
Speaking about the ad, McDonald’s UK marketing director Michelle Graham-Clare said the campaign is meant to tackle the world of coffee advertising in a humorous yet relatable way. It highlights that people can enjoy great coffee at McCafé without the pretentiousness involved with it.
