The Weeknd Takes A Page From Lionel Richie’s Book In Controversial New Look
By Yimin Huang, 11 Sep 2019
On Monday, The Weeknd (real name Abel Tesfaye) stunned fans and paparazzi alike when he appeared at the 2019 Toronto International Film Festival with a drastically different aesthetic.
He was there for his latest film Uncut Gems, but it was his different hairstyle and facial hair that got people buzzing.
Usually, the singer is seen with his signature beard. However, this time, he decided to shave most of his facial hair, leaving behind just a short stubble and a mustache.
Twitter reactions to the wholly new aesthetic were strong, resulting in many comparisons of him with other celebrities. Most notably, he was compared to Lionel Richie or actor Dacre Montgomery’s character ‘Billy’ in the popular series Stranger Things.
Others simply exclaimed that the singer was barely recognizable.
