A bridal boutique is being smeared with negative comments after posting photos of a shoot carried out at a graveyard.
Its owner, Nur Amirah Mohd Amiruddin, has apologized for the unconventional concept. The fashion shoot saw female models posing and sitting on the graves at a Christian cemetery in Malaysia, angering social media users who were shown the snaps on her Facebook.
Many called the shoot “insensitive,” demanding that the photos be taken off the page. Amiruddin, however, said that the shoot was actually meant to be a private collection and that she wasn’t “seeking for publicity.”
Amiruddin, who was the photographer behind the shoot, defended that she wanted to try something different and “took inspiration from abroad.” She admitted that she had no intention of “ridiculing other religions,” and stressed that the photos weren’t taken for marketing purposes.
“I accept any criticism from the public,” Amiruddin said, taking responsibility for the controversial photo shoot and expressing her hopes that the public wouldn’t criticize the models. Among the social media users who condemned the photographer included a Muslim religious preacher named PU Amin.
PU Amin told his Instagram followers the importance of respecting other religions. He also highlighted his belief that cemeteries are places associated with grief and death, not locations for fashion poses.
Fucking stupid. Dah takda tempat lain ka nak photoshoot? Langsung tak hormat tanah perkuburan orang, tanah perkuburan kristian lagi tu.Damn, people surely will do anything just for the sake of attention.
