Are creative professionals from elsewhere in the world earning higher or lower salaries than you? If you’re thinking of relocating for better opportunities, this tool might help you make a decision.
Yell Business, a UK-based digital marketing provider for SMEs, charted the earnings of some of the more popular occupations from around the world and matched them against the salaries of similar professions in the UK to find out if “the grass is really greener” on the other side.
The company studied findings on 28 jobs from nine databases including those of Glassdoor, Erieri and Salary Expert, and generated equivalent annual wages based on the countries’ average salaries and cost of living.
Graphic designers in Saudi Arabia, Switzerland and China might be in the cushiest positions in comparison with graphic designers from elsewhere in the world. Swiss graphic designers fetch a lofty annual payout of £63,670 (US$82,845), though their high cost of living brings the corresponding amount down to £33,867 (US$44,066). The costs of living in China and Saudi Arabia are quite low, so graphic designers in these nations might have the greatest financial security in their roles.
If you’re a photographer, you might want to pack your bags to China, Saudi Arabia or France, where photographers are expected to earn more with equivalent earnings of £43,663 (US$56,814), £38,176 (US$49,674) and £35,461 (US$46,145). In comparison, US photographers are fetching a comparative £33,319 (US$43,358) per year when pit against remuneration in the UK.
If you’re a web developer from the US, it’d be easier to stay put, as web developers here earn the third-highest in Yell Business’ ranking, following China and Saudi Arabia.
