Donald Trump has unveiled the official logo for Space Force in a tweet.
The Space Force became a reality after the Congress passed a US$738 billion military bill that formed the sixth branch of the military. This new branch is now responsible for branding, uniform design and other requirements involving a new armed force.
The logo however, looked similar to the fictional symbol from Star Trek. Many social media users have taken to Twitter to voice out their opinions, including former Star Trek member George Takei, who joked that the film would be “expecting some royalties from this.”
Another user thought Trump drew inspiration from the NASA logo, as the stars from both logos appeared to be the same. Analyst Jon Noonan, however, explained on Twitter that the Space Force logo is actually based on an existing Air Force command logo.
After consultation with our Great Military Leaders, designers, and others, I am pleased to present the new logo for the United States Space Force, the Sixth Branch of our Magnificent Military! pic.twitter.com/TC8pT4yHFT

For those excitedly tweeting that Trump stole the Star Trek logo!!!!, the patch on the left was the existing Air Force Command logo.

The Trump/Pence PAC is already trying to monetize the Space Force:

People are freaking out that Space force logo looks like Trek's logo, however many forget about Space Command and NASA. NASA's original logo was used as a base for the Trek Logo.....and when compared to Air Force's Space Command logo to Space Force it kind of makes sense. pic.twitter.com/bLVRNSXz5B
