Airbnb China has unveiled a heartwarming animated short film produced by Final Frontier and Taiko Studios. It follows the story of a young girl named Jia Jia and the importance of celebrating Chinese New Year with her family annually.
The film touches on the Chinese tradition whereby the ‘Fú’ on a paper cutting is deliberately hung upside down to symbolize “good luck comes,” but the little girl does not understand the significance and often switches the paper cutting to sit upright.
This leads to an on-going exchange between Jia Jia and her father, who take turns to place the decoration where they deem fit. However, when Jia Jia moves to the big city to pursue her career as a nurse, she isn’t able to travel to her parents to celebrate the upcoming Chinese New Year. But to her surprise, her family comes to her by booking an Airbnb home nearby to carry on the yearly tradition.
The ad reflects on how Airbnb presents itself as a solution for families around the world to find homes away from home to spend time with their loved ones during the holiday season.
