Paris Musées, a collective of 14 public museums, has announced that it will be offering 100,000 digital reproductions of artworks done by some of the most prolific figures in history.
Establishments under Paris Musées’ wing include the Musee d’Art Moderne de la Ville de Paris, Petit Palais and the Catacombs, to name a few.
The artworks, comprising pieces by artists such as Eugène Delacroix, Gustave Courbet and Rembrandt, can be accessed via the public institution’s Collections portal free of charge. Art lovers, students and educators alike can research on works based on the artist, date and even color.
According to Paris Musées, making this data available to the public will make art accessible to people from all backgrounds and in high definition.
Having access to these high definition images can help support findings and teachings of those in the field, further improving their “digital cultural mediation tools,” Paris Musées added.
Feel free to browse the entire collection of public domain works through Paris Musées’ website.
