Nintendo fans are flabbergasted at a piece of trivia that they could have lived without knowing about.
As pointed out by Super Mario-focused blog Supper Mario Broth, Donkey Kong’s design in the character selection screen of Mario Kart Wii erroneously comes with the texture of his mouth… on his feet.
The blog elaborated that the texture was halved and rotated before being applied on Donkey Kong’s inner toes, making them look as if the character’s feet had been sliced off.
While the game debuted in 2008, players are only learning about this fact 12 years on, and they wish they hadn’t.
“I learned something new and I hate it,” responded Kotaku reporter Zack Zwiezen.
A Donkey Kong fan account replied, “I can taste the ground when I walk.”
Prepare some bleach for your eyes, on your face.
On the character selection screen of Mario Kart Wii, looking closely at Donkey Kong's innermost toes shows a red texture resembling painted nails (left: normal view, middle: zoomed in). This is actually a mapping error that applies Donkey Kong's mouth texture to his feet (right). pic.twitter.com/3aq3jVUyP3
