Planters’ new commercial depicts the funeral of a 104-year-old Mr. Peanut, who apparently fell to his demise—but that’s not all. The company also introduced the reincarnated mini-me of Mr. Peanut, Baby Nut, who sports a tiny top hat, white gloves and shoes.
The 30-second spot titled Tribute sees loved ones including Mr Clean, the Kool-Aid Man and the Oscar Mayer Wienermobile grieving over the loss of Mr. Peanut.
Soon, Baby Nut is introduced with his little dolphin-like noises.
“Hello world, I’m happy to be back! I can’t believe everyone came together for little old me!” one of the brand’s post reads.
The internet, expectedly, has been split upon Baby Nut’s arrival.
WWE wrestler Johnny Gargano wrote, “Baby Yoda, Baby Groot and now #BabyNut? We are in the golden age, my friends,” while another user responded, “Planters really out here trying to compete with the likes of Baby Groot and Baby Yoda with #BabyNut.”
The infancy of many characters has won the hearts of internet users. Now, Planters hopes to do the same by “bringing everyone together” with the teeny mascot.
#BabyNut here, back and cuter than ever! Now what should I do next? Tell me in the replies and I’ll try to do them in real time! And yes… suggestions that are a little nutty are ok. https://t.co/UWFWzPURht
