Your résumé might look good, but the key to proving if you have the “it factor” is in the details.
Take it from Google, one of the most coveted companies that creatives wish to work for in 2020. Kyle Ewing, Google’s director of talent and outreach, has undoubtedly seen his fair share of job applications. “The most important thing to consider is how that piece of paper can properly reflect all of your dimensions,” he told Fast Company.
In the article, Ewing described four ways to write an outstanding résumé.
One notable tip suggests not just indicating where you worked or studied at, but also conveying “the experience” you gained from being in those places in sentences.
You can also “tell a better story” about yourself by including details about side hustles, passion projects, or campaigns you might have volunteered in. This shows you’re a “holistic candidate,” which is something Google is looking for.
A lesser-known trick is to pay attention to keywords used in the job ads you are applying for, and then highlighting those words in your résumé.
You can read the full article on Fast Company for more advice from Ewing about nailing your résumé.
