Coronavirus was declared to be a Global Health Emergency by the World Health Organization, infecting 24,597 people across the world. Hospitals in Wuhan have been overwhelmed with the fight against the virus, and are left without a choice but to refuse patients.
To cope with the pandemic and lack of medical resources, Wuhan City constructed a new hospital in just 10 days.
The Huoshenshan Hospital, which translates to “Fire God Mountain,” was mostly completed during the brief window of time, thanks to the effort of 7,000 workers who toiled around the clock.
According to China Central Television, laborers continued to work even as the hospital took in its first batch of patients.
The new facility includes 1,000 beds and 30 intensive care units and isolation wards. A time-lapse, shown below, captures the stunning construction of the building, which is now open.
While news of the deadly outbreak has been keeping many awake, it’s also important to acknowledge the medical professionals who are working behind the scenes to fight the virus. To date, 938 patients have recovered from the coronavirus.
