Adding new abilities to your skillset doesn’t have to be boring or expensive. If you’ve been meaning to pick up or brush up on programming, the good news is you can do so for free without having your eyes assaulted by lines of code.
Apple has just released its Swift Playgrounds app to Mac users. While the software has been available on the iPad since 2016, Apple’s developers have now made it compatible for computers.
With the Swift Playgrounds app, users can pick up the basics of the Swift programming language without prior coding knowledge. What makes it engaging is that it’s set in an interactive 3D world where you solve puzzles with code.
“It’s perfect for students just starting out, from 12 to 112,” the company explains.
Swift is a general-purpose programming language that Apple developed for iOS, iPadOS, macOS, watchOS, and so on. Apple says “pros [have been using it] to create thousands of apps.”
