There are lots to be uncovered on the internet—some you’ll come to regret, and others you’ll love. Adobe’s timeless typography resource falls in the latter camp.
The company’s free Typography Primer book, published in 2000, was highlighted by Graham Smith of The Logo Smith. The designer, who has been in graphic and print design since 1989, says it has been so useful that he had the book printed, spiral-bound and laminated.
The 20-page book continues to be relevant today, and covers must-knows about typography from anatomy to choosing the right characters and combining typefaces in publications.
The Typography Primer is an incredible resource for anyone getting started on typography or graphic design, but Smith says it’s also a great refresher and source of reference even for “seasoned designers and self-proclaimed typographers.”
