Elon Musk barely has time for himself, but that doesn’t come off as a surprise. He is, after all, the CEO of both Tesla and SpaceX. So, how does a day in the life of Elon Musk look?
Well, ponder no longer, because Business Insider has crunched down a rough workday for Mr Musk via the information he had given during interviews in the past.
Boss man Musk starts off his day at 7am, revealing on Reddit that he regularly gets about six hours of sleep, which means he often sleeps at 1am. Though Musk often skips breakfast, a morning shower is a daily compulsory step for him.
Musk keeps up with his weekly 85 to 100 work hours by scheduling in five-minute blocks. Most of his work goes into engineering and design.
Mondays and Fridays are dedicated to SpaceX in Los Angeles, while Tuesdays, Wednesdays, and Thursdays belong to Tesla in the Bay Area. From Quartz’s estimation, Musk spends around 42 hours of work a week at Tesla and 40 hours a week at SpaceX. Musk also leaves out time to work on OpenAI.
On a typical Saturday, he either dedicates work time at SpaceX or family time with his six sons. A Sunday could mean traveling about or staying at his mansion in Bel Air.
He often misses out on phone calls to focus on his productivity, and purportedly has his lunch during meetings or crams his meal within five minutes to save time. Dinner is when he eats the most.
According to Inc., Musk keeps an obscure email address to avoid spam, but encourages his employees to reach him there.
After all that hectic chaos, Musk still finds time to hit the gym at least once or twice a week. So, what’s your excuse?
The detailed breakdown of his average workday can be found here. Watch Musk explain how he copes with his overwhelming work weeks below.
