The Golden Arches just got more golden, as McDonald’s has hand-crafted extravagant cups inspired by the packaging of the Shamrock Shake.
The creation marks the Shamrock Shake’s anniversary, and replaces the minty green with high-polish 18K gold and precious gems comprising 50 green emeralds and 50 white diamonds. The Golden Arches have further been embellished with 50 yellow diamonds to set the 50th anniversary in stone.
By the looks of it, you’ll know this isn’t your regular takeout cup—and its price further emphasizes this. The Golden Shamrock Shake is appraised at US$90,000, and McDonald’s has placed it for auction on the Ronald McDonald House Charities (RMHC) eBay for Charity page at a starting bid of just US$1.
All proceeds from the sale will be donated to the RMHC, which aims to support families with ill or injured children. Quite aptly, the charity got its beginnings in 1974, and its foundation was funded by Shamrock Shake sales.
There are only two Golden Shamrock Shakes in the world. The other cup is up for grabs to celebrate the Shamrock Shake’s return, as well as the release of a new Oreo Shamrock Shake. Fans keen on getting their hands on it can find out more here.
Celebrate 50 years of #ShamrockShakeSZN with an 18K gold, diamond and emerald tribute: the Golden Shamrock Shake. Bid NOW and it could be yours. Proceeds benefit @RMHC! https://t.co/vznfMOD9Tb pic.twitter.com/4MmMVl3oBZ
