Amid coronavirus fears, people in China have adopted a “Wuhan shake” to greet others.
The “Wuhan shake” is a foot-to-foot curtsy, and involves participants using their shoes to touch others’ footwear when they meet, replacing the common handshake.
In a clip shared on Twitter, a group of men donning face masks can be seen tapping their feet together when they meet. The video has been viewed over 30,000 times, with many applauding the creative gesture.
“That’s a great idea and you don’t need hand sanitizer,” one Twitter user said.
Apparently, the method isn’t just picking up in China. A video circulating online from Iran shows a group of men using the approach to greet one another to prevent the contagion.
