The Royal Canadian Mint has released the “world’s first diamond-shaped silver coin.”
In a three-way collaboration with Forevermark diamonds and Crossworks Manufacturing, the resulting collective coin is made of 3oz of 99.999-percent pure silver and decorated with a 0.20-carat square-cut diamond from the Victor Mine in Northern Ontario.
It also features a portrait of Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth II by Susanna Blunt. The coin is carefully packaged with a mirror at the bottom, allowing light to reflect the angled diamond cuts that are engraved on the coin.
Taking over a year to design and manufacture, the collectible CA$50 coin comes with a Royal Canadian Mint certificate of authenticity, and only 700 units are available to purchase.
The luxurious collectible coin retails for CAD$1,499 (US$1,122) and you can learn more about it here.
