Oscar-winning director Taika Waititi will be teaming up with Netflix to work on two animated series relating to Roald Dahl’s 1964 children novel Charlie and the Chocolate Factory, per Variety.
One of the series will be based on the world of Charlie and the Chocolate Factory, while the other will be on the Oompa-Loompa characters, who are known as the workers at Willy Wonka’s Chocolate Factory.
The streaming juggernaut claims that the shows will “retain the quintessential spirit and tone of the original story,” while breathing a new life into the world and characters “beyond the pages of the Dahl book.”
Waititi is also known for his directorial works in Thor: Ragnarok and Jojo Rabbit, which led his ‘Best Adapted Screenplay’ win at the Oscars this year.
Taika Waititi will write, direct, & EP two animated series based on the works of Roald Dahl.
