KFC unveiled a new advert surrounding the theme of its famous slogan, “It’s Finger Lickin’ Good,” in the UK. In the time of the global COVID-19 outbreak, however, the spot received criticism for promoting contact with hands, which is one of the ways a contagion can take place.
The fast-food juggernaut had to suspend its current commercial due to growing concerns by many in the UK, per The Drum. The ad, released two weeks ago, showcased people from various walks of life enjoying fried chicken and licking their fingers to note just how into their meals they were.
However, the World Health Organization has advised people to avoid contact with their hands, and to regularly wash them in order to keep the virus at bay.
163 people reported the commercial to the Advertising Standards Authority, which eventually resulted in the campaign being halted.
