French luxury juggernaut LVMH is offering a helping hand to support a nationwide demand for disinfecting products amid the novel coronavirus outbreak. The group began manufacturing sanitizing gels in its factories on Monday to deliver them to health authorities in France for free.
“LVMH will use the production lines of its perfume and cosmetic brands... to produce large quantities of hydro-alcoholic gels from Monday,” LVMH announced in a statement, per the BBC.
The factories usually produce perfume and cosmetic products for luxury brands including Christian Dior and Givenchy. The company will now commit itself in aiding French health authorities during the COVID-19 wave.
The death toll in France is currently at 127, with at least 5,423 infected people, according to France’s public health agency Sante Publique France.
Wow. "Given the risk of a shortage of hydroalcoholic gel in France, Bernard Arnault has instructed the @LVMH Perfumes & Cosmetics business to prepare its production sites to manufacture substantial quantities of hydroalcoholic gel to be provided to public authorities." pic.twitter.com/NfkkWUb4Yr
