As many continue to practice self-isolation and social distancing, they are also turning to porn to ease their boredom.
Pornhub released data last Wednesday showing its viewing trends over the past few weeks after the US government encouraged the public to stay at home due to the coronavirus pandemic.
The adult website noticed a surge in traffic during this period, as compared to an average day. Pornhub reported that the traffic rose 6.4 percent last Tuesday. In comparison, the traffic went down by nearly one percent on 24 February.
The company’s charts saw more visitors from US and Canada logging into Pornhub after the isolation period took place. “Traffic from the US was up 6.4 percent on 17 March and 7.2 percent in Canada,” the company stated.
The website also observed an increase during late-night hours. “Traffic was a massive 40.3-percent above average at 3am, before dropping -11.9 percent at 7am. That was followed by a 26.8-percent increase mid-afternoon,” it added.
Pornhub also reported that there have been searches containing the word “coronavirus” on its website, especially from users living in Washington, DC. “DC visitors are proportionately 33-percent more likely to search. Visitors from New York are 24-percent more likely to search, 22-percent in Washington state and 18-percent more in West Virginia,” Pornhub explained.
