Queen Elizabeth and Boris Johnson have accidentally birthed a new meme.
A photo of the duo was shared on the Royal family’s Instagram account yesterday, and it showed the Queen having a conversation with the prime minister via the phone. The Queen appeared to be holding a vintage phone on hand, while Johnson held a black phone with his hair, disheveled.
The post was meant to remind fans to stay at home and restrict any contact to minimize the spread of coronavirus, but social media users had other things in mind.
Instagram user @notenoughangers thought the photo was perfect for a meme. “Thank you for this very clear meme,” the user joked. “Same. I thought it was a meme at first and then saw the source,” another fan wrote.
While many thought the photo was meme-worthy, other social media users pointed out the classic phone that the Queen held in her hand. “Wow, those phones still exist?” a Twitter user asked.
Royal fans have been sending lots of love to the family after news broke that Prince Charles tested positive for coronavirus.
