Airbnb has launched Online Experiences, where users can travel virtually and take on new activities from the comfort of their homes. These digital experiences are provided by Airbnb’s hosts from around the world as a way to earn some income amid the coronavirus crisis.
The home-share company has over 50 virtual experiences offered by hosts from over 30 different countries. Airbnb promises to bring in more unique experiences in the coming weeks.
Right now, you can try out meditation with Buddhist monks, go on virtual trip with the dogs of Chernobyl or cook up a dish with a Moroccan family.
These programs will be available via Zoom, which Airbnb will offer free of charge to its hosts. It also pledges to provide support services to help these hosts set up for their special Online Experience.
Airbnb told in a press release that it has set aside a total of US$250 million to aid hosts affected by the coronavirus pandemic.
