While people would be happy to make sustainable decisions to help save the earth, they might not know where or how to start. Samsung is ensuring that being environmentally-friendly would be the natural choice by deliberately making its packaging ready for a second life.
Samsung Electronics is introducing new cardboard boxes for its Lifestyle TV lineup that encourages customers to DIY and upcycle them into furniture. The “eco-packaging” is constructed with recyclable corrugated cardboard and will be available with Samsung’s The Serif, The Frame, and The Sero televisions.
Dot matrix designs on the boxes invite customers to cut and assemble them into interior pieces like small end tables, pet houses, magazine racks, and shelves.
Customers will additionally be guided on how to repurpose the packaging through an instruction manual accessible by scanning a QR code printed on the boxes.
“With our eco-packaging, we believe that we can provide our customers with a new experience that considers the environment as an important way to express themselves,” described Kangwook Chun, Executive Vice President and Head of the Product Strategy Team of Visual Display Business at Samsung Electronics.
