SpaceX’s Demo-2 mission will send two NASA astronauts to the International Space Station (ISS) from the Kennedy Space Centre in Florida on 27 May 2020.
This will be the first time NASA astronauts will launch via rocket to space since 2011. The astronauts Robert Behnken and Douglas Hurley will blast off on a Falcon 9 rocket in SpaceX’s Crew Dragon spacecraft.
In line with social distancing guidelines, NASA Administrator Jim Bridenstine encourages people to stay at home to catch the launch amid the coronavirus pandemic, per Space.
The Demo-2 mission will be the last step before NASA’s Commercial Crew Program officially approves the Crew Dragon for operational missions to the space station. Catch the rendered animation for the big event ahead of the 27 May 2020 below.
